Joe Riggs is a lifelong Republican running for the 26th District House seat in Alaska.
Given the opportunity, Joe will tell you a few things about himself: he's really into Alaska, he adores his family, and he really, really loves economics.
Prior to earning his Economics degree from the University of Alaska, Joe started out his career as a paramedic. Coming from a small town in Michigan, Joe got a job as a paramedic with the Fairbanks Fire Department, helping to put him through school, serving the community, and fusing together his interests of serving others in the fields of healthcare and finance.
Hard work creates a lot of opportunities in this world, and no one exemplifies that truth more than Joe.
Since moving to South Anchorage more than 15 years ago, Joe has worked as a financial adviser, a strategic healthcare consultant, and helped launch his wife's medical practice.
He was appointed by Mayor Dan Sullivan as the Vice Chair of the Anchorage Budget Advisory Commission, where he still serves, and has also served on the boards of the Alaska Blood Bank and Challenge Alaska. He's a member of Commonwealth North's Fiscal Action and Energy Action Committees, and the Oil Investment Tax Structure Group.
Translation: Joe sees a lot of budgets.
Joe and his wife live in South Anchorage with their two sons, and enjoy climbing, kayaking, and kiteboarding.
